Responsibilities and Tasks
In-Plant Tasks
- Sample raw materials and finished products for microbiological testing
- Inspect fish during filleting according to PNE quality standards
- Verify labelling compliance of finished products during packaging and production
- Provide support for PNE procedures and verifications
- Check product weights according to policy and CFIA sampling methods, and calculate weighted averages under the Weights and Measures Regulations
- Validate random product lots according to CFIA standards
- Conduct “Good Manufacturing Practices” (GMP) inspections during production
- Inspect the facility (construction, design, and surrounding areas) and follow up on repairs
- Raise employee awareness of hygiene, sanitation, and good manufacturing practices
- Deliver GMP and HACCP training sessions for employees
- Collaborate with CFIA inspectors
- Maintain inventory of chemical products
- Calibrate various instruments and equipment
Office Tasks
- Write corrective action reports and ensure proper follow-up
- Enter sanitation indicator statistics
- Update the QMS, HACCP plan, and SQF Level 2 documentation: prerequisite programs, Regulatory Intervention Points, Hazard Analyses, etc.
- Assist the Quality Control Director in solving quality-related issues
- Purchase new materials and contact suppliers for new equipment
- Participate in new product development (HACCP validation, feasibility studies, and regulatory compliance)
- Perform data entry
Desired Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology; or
- Currently enrolled in a Food Processing and Quality Technology program
